What about the 8 Women Who Proved Balance is Power
As women, we've been facing our fears, gracefully weaving through the obstacles placed in our path. Far too many of our innovators in the 19th, 20th, and into the 21st century were lost in the battle for gender equality. For Women's History Month we look to the ladies who colored our world, even without being acknowledged as an artist.
Ada Lovelace- Ada Lovelace's extensive mathematical knowledge was cultivated by her mother's desire to steer her away from the arts. Her father Lord Byron was an infamous poet, known for his creativity and lead in the Romantic movement. In an attempt to change her daughter's DNA, because let's face it we're all like our parents, Ada was able to develop the first algorithms that would be considered a computer program. At 17, she was introduced to Charles Babbage’s plans for a machine that he believed could do complex math calculations. Ada's vision of instructions that could be loaded into a machine to process complicated problem, translated into the tool utilized to build the first computer a century later. Much thanks to Ada's mom.
